What to expect at the Harrachov beer spa

The beer spa at Harrachov takes place inside the Novosad glassworks and brewery complex – a place where craft has been practiced for centuries. The experience lasts roughly one hour: thirty minutes soaking in the tub, thirty minutes of quiet recovery. The beer going into the water is made in the same building.

Arriving at the Novosad complex

You step into the grounds of one of the oldest glassworks in Bohemia, where a brewery and beer spa now share the site. The scent of malt from the Novosad microbrewery is the first sign you are somewhere genuinely different.

Beer bath in unfiltered craft beer (30 min)

You sink into a warm bath (around 36 °C) to which unfiltered, unpasteurised yeast beer – both light and dark – from the Novosad microbrewery is added, along with crushed hops. The natural compounds in the beer and hops absorb through the skin, easing muscles and steadily quieting the mind.

Beer from the tap – yours to enjoy

During the procedure, two small beers per person from the Novosad brewery come with the session. In the Lovestory double tub, the shared toast turns the whole thing into proper mountain romance.

Relaxation after the bath (30 min)

After the soak, thirty minutes of rest let the hop and yeast compounds keep working while your muscles release completely. Mountain fatigue – from skis or trails – fades away. The silence of Krkonoše does the rest.

What's included

  • Beer bath in unfiltered, unpasteurised yeast beer from the Novosad microbrewery
  • 30 minutes soaking + 30 minutes relaxation
  • Two small beers per person during the session
  • Choice of solo bath, Lovestory double tub, or Lovestory Privat private suite
  • Barrier-free access and parking directly on site
  • Beer wellness inside a historic glassworks and brewery complex

When should you go?

Beer spa Harrachov is open year-round – in winter as a reward after a day on the ski slopes, in summer after hiking the Krkonoše ridges or walking to the Mumlavský waterfall. The spa is open on weekdays from 11:00 to 20:00, and at weekends from 10:00. Booking ahead is recommended, ideally at least a day before your visit.

Tip: Combine your beer bath with a visit to the glassblowing workshop and glass museum on the same site. A morning watching hand-blown glass being made, followed by an afternoon beer spa – that is a Harrachov day worth talking about.

Which experience to choose?

Beer spa Harrachov offers three clearly defined options:

  • Beer bath for one (from 900 CZK) – solo session with beer bath, relaxation, and two small beers included. The ideal reward after a day in the mountains.
  • Lovestory for two (from 1,600 CZK) – romantic double tub with a shared toast and the full Novosad beer-spa ritual. The obvious choice for couples.
  • Lovestory Privat (from 1,900 CZK) – the double tub experience in a fully private room for absolute privacy. The most intimate option for two.

Health benefits of a beer bath

A beer spa is not just a great story to tell – there are real, documented benefits from soaking in hops, brewer's yeast, and natural beer compounds. And you do not need to enjoy drinking beer to get every single one of them.

Boosts circulation

The warm hop-infused water activates the heart and drives blood flow to every part of the body.

Strengthens immunity

B-group vitamins from live brewer's yeast support the immune system – absorbed directly through the skin.

Soothes skin

Hop acids and live yeast calm dry and irritated skin – noticeable even after a single session.

Melts away stress

Hops are a natural sedative – they calm the nervous system and ease you into the kind of deep rest that normally takes hours.

Rejuvenates skin

Enzymes and minerals in the bathwater detoxify the body and leave your skin noticeably softer.

Relieves aches

Warm water and lupulon from hops ease joint and muscle pain – ideal relief after skiing or a long mountain hike.

Why Harrachov for a beer spa?

Harrachov combines a beer spa with genuine craft and mountain nature. You bathe in beer brewed on site at the Novosad glassworks and brewery – one of the oldest private glassworks in Bohemia – with the Krkonoše mountains right outside and the Polish border on the horizon. That combination does not exist anywhere else.

  • Beer from the on-site microbrewery – unfiltered, unpasteurised yeast beer from the Novosad brewery goes into the tub; their ležák František has been awarded the Golden Beer Seal.
  • Romantic options for two – the Lovestory double tub and the Lovestory Privat private suite are both designed for couples who want real privacy.
  • Inside a historic glassworks – the beer spa can be combined with a tour of the glassblowing workshop and museum, right on the same site.
  • Heart of Krkonoše – the Mumlavský waterfall, ski jumps, and the national park ridges are all within easy reach of the spa.

Why you will love it

We booked the Lovestory Privat for our anniversary – private room, two beers each, unfiltered craft beer in the water, mountains outside. After a full day hiking the Krkonoše ridges, it was exactly what we needed. The glassworks setting made it feel genuinely special rather than just another spa.

Couple's beer bath · October 2025

Birthday gift for my partner. We watched the glassblowers in the morning and had the beer spa in the afternoon. Stayed at Hotel Sklárna on site – no need to move anywhere. The beer in the water was from their own brewery and you could genuinely feel the difference. Brilliant day.

Beer spa + glassworks visit · January 2026

Came after a day on the ski slopes – muscles completely gone. Thirty minutes in the beer tub and thirty minutes resting and I was a different person. The beers included were a nice touch. The drive up to Harrachov is half the fun too. Highly recommended if you are anywhere near the Krkonoše area.

Sklárna a Pivovar Novosad – tradition and craft

The beer spa sits within the grounds of Sklárna a Pivovar Harrachov, operated by the Novosad family. The glassworks on this site is among the oldest private glassworks in Bohemia – its history is documented before the year 1712. Hand-blown glass is still produced here today, and the complex includes a glass museum and a viewing workshop where visitors can watch the craft live.

A new chapter was added in 2002 with the opening of the family-run Novosad microbrewery and restaurant. The brewery produces a light ležák called František – awarded the Golden Beer Seal – as well as a dark beer called Čerťák and a draught pale, all brewed and served directly on site. The beer is unfiltered and unpasteurised, exactly the quality that belongs in a beer bath.

The beer spa opened in 2007 and has since become one of Harrachov's most popular wellness attractions. The combination of glassmaking heritage, craft beer, and Krkonoše mountain scenery gives every visit a depth and character that is genuinely hard to find elsewhere in the Czech Republic.

Harrachov & around

Harrachov sits in the northern reaches of Krkonoše and is one of the best-known mountain resorts in the Czech Republic. The town is famous for its ski jumping hills, ski slopes, and its glassmaking tradition. A beer spa at the Novosad complex and time in the Krkonoše mountains make a natural pairing for a proper mountain weekend.

What to see and do

  • Sklárna Novosad & syn – glassblowing workshop with hand-blown glass and a glass museum directly on the same site as the beer spa
  • Mumlavský waterfall – one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Krkonoše, a popular destination for an easy walk from Harrachov
  • Ski jumps and Čerťák ski area – Harrachov's famous jumping hills and the main ski area for downhill skiing
  • Krkonoše National Park – ridge hikes, mountain huts, and the unspoiled nature of the highest Czech mountains
  • Skiing in Harrachov – in winter, one of the most popular ski resorts in northern Bohemia

Getting to Harrachov

Harrachov is accessible by both car and train – it lies in the northern part of Krkonoše near the Polish border. Where to stay in Harrachov

Staying directly on site at the Novosad complex puts the beer spa at your doorstep. For a longer stay or a different budget, there are more options across the town:

Harrachov beer spa vs. other destinations

Beer spa Harrachov offers something that most other Czech venues cannot match: a beer wellness experience inside a working glassworks and brewery, in a mountain resort setting, with craft beer made on the same premises. The combination of the Novosad microbrewery, the historic glassworks, and the Krkonoše scenery gives the visit a character of its own.
